Mistaken for: Bette Midler. I've taken pictures with Bette. We don't look exactly alike, but there must be something, because people always say we do.

Self-referential possession: I keep my stand-up comedy notes in a pile on my desk. I don't organize my act. I keep myself in a state of confusion. It stresses me out, but I prefer creative chaos.

Italian or Jewish: I'm Italian, but some people think I'm Jewish because I work the Yiddish. I also work the Italian, by the way.

Top Yiddishism: Certain Yiddish words just turn me on. You can't find an English equivalent. Why not say, "I have rachmones for you," instead of "sympathy"?

Life philosophy: Have four things going. I have stand-up comedy, two television shows and I'm working on a play. I like to work, and I fear that something could fall through. You know what they say: The show must go off.

Place in house she's fussiest about: The kitchen. You cook there. I don't like a lot of stuff out. I like a clean counter.

At 5 she wanted to be: A nun. It was the brainwashing of the Catholic Church, and my mother gave me a nun doll. That's what did it. Then I started to be funny.

Collections: I like Bakelite bracelets and earrings. That is what I collect. They're in my closet in my box.

Favorite 'View' swag: Lady Gaga's sunglasses. She was on set and had those glasses, and I said, "Can I have those?" She took them right off her face, signed them and gave them to me. I thought it would be nice to have a souvenir from her. I like her.

Favorite chore: Dust-busting. I love a Dustbuster. You go around, pick up little crumbs, and everything is nice again.

Fictional character she identifies with: Not Anna Karenina. I don't feel the tragic need to throw myself under a train for a man.

Superstitions: My mother had many. When you sweep a floor, make sure you do a good job, or you'll marry a bald man. I have sworn off superstitions. What's wrong with a bald man anyway?

Favorite art object: My Phyllis Diller painting. Her whole house in L.A. was filled with her paintings, and they had price tags on them. I admired one, and she sent it to me. I love it. It is adorable and charming and original.

What to give Whoopi: Whoopi is very hard to buy a gift for. She buys everything she wants. The one thing I can give her is my lasagna. She likes mine more than other people's. I just pack it with stuff. I make my own sauce. I do the whole thing.

Fantasy career: This is not a fantasy career that I have. I like that I can earn a living making people laugh, but it is a little stressful. If I had a talent to paint, I'd like that.

Brooklyn girl: Williamsburg is very hip now, but when I grew up there, I used to hang out in front of a mozzarella store.

Best thing about Brooklyn: Everybody knew everybody on the block.

Worst thing about Brooklyn: It wasn't Manhattan.

Best thing about Barbara Walters: She has an incredible work ethic. I have never seen anything like it. She never went to the bathroom, and that is how she got all those interviews. The woman is the Energizer Bunny. She doesn't get tired.

Why She Married After 29 Years: Didn't want her grandchild asking, "Is Nana a puttana?" Steve was tired of holding his belly in. She was hoping to be on the cover of Brides' AARP edition.

3 Funniest Relatives: Aunt Rose; her father; Aunt Julie: "She was hysterical when she was enraged."
